Hi Folks,
OUR REQUEST
It is a pleasure for me to write to you today, to request a donation towards assisting Jamie Shepherd and his fundraising committee in their 8th Annual Happenin’ Barbeque taking place on Saturday, August 13th, 2011 from noon-midnight. Please accept our heartfelt thanks for all past support. We issue charitable receipts upon request.
In 2010, through last year’s supports and hopefully your support this year, we were able to serve 4,906 youth who visited our centre and we delivered 13,183 hours of service. While visiting our dropin centre, youth are able to have a hot and nutritious meal, take a shower or bath, access toilet and laundry facilities and obtain ‘peer support’ and professional direction as needed.
OUR MISSION STATEMENT
Our mission statement is; we empower at risk street youth (ages 16-24) by offering them the opportunity to make positive changes in their lives. We provide referrals, guidance, support and understanding in a safe, accessible environment. These referrals support the work of existing social service agencies and their service providers.
OUR OBJECTIVES
| to promote, encourage and foster self esteem within our street youth; |
|
| to prepare our street youth for referral to the appropriate agencies, to develop and implement life skills, advocate further education, employment training and job re-entry programs; | |
| to assist in providing peer counselling services with family crisis, alcohol addition, drug addiction and homelessness; |
|
| to liaise with other charitable, nonprofit community organizations and social services. |
Your support towards the 8th Annual Happenin’ Barbeque allows Jamie Shepherd and his committee to assist us with London's most vulnerable citizens.
Your consideration is very much appreciated.
Respectfully yours,
Dick Rastin, RSSW
Executive Director
