Please accept our heartfelt thanks to all who participated in the 8th Annual BBQ.
The BBQ8 held on August 13, 2011 by Jamie Shepherd, (one extremely hard worker and his fantastic committee) did a great job. BRAVO JAMIE. This years event raised $4,440.00 plus a wonderful donation of excellent beef, salads, beverages, buns and condiments for our homeless street youth. The great music by Paradox, fear factor winner Samuel Ritchie, dunk tank and other activities were a great success and the good weather held out (thank God no rain). Our youth had a great time.
Through your efforts and the barbeque donations, your contribution has helped us to assist over 80,875 clients, delivering over 200,288 hours of service. Our valued volunteers have donated over 94,622 hours in the past 11 years. We will celebrate 20 years of service to our youth this year.
Our mission statement is - we empower at risk street youth (ages 16-24) by offering them the opportunity to make positive changes in their lives. We provide referrals, guidance, support and understanding in a safe, accessible environment. These referrals support the work of existing social service agencies and their service providers.
Our objectives are:
| to promote, encourage and foster self esteem within our street youth |
|
| to prepare our street youth for referral to the appropriate agencies, to develop and implement life skills, advocate further education, employment training and job re-entry programs |
|
| to assist in providing peer counselling services with family crisis, alcohol addiction, drug addiction and homelessness |
|
| to liaise with other charitable, non-profit community organizations and social services |
Thank you for helping us to help our "hardcore" homeless youth help themselves
God Bless you and yours for caring and for sharing
